2012 Volkswagen Passat Named #1 Family Car By Kelly Blue Book’s kbb.com
Safety has always been a top priority for Volkswagen, especially when it comes to families and the vehicles that they ride in. That’s why Volkswagen was ecstatic when Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com announced the 2012 Volkswagen Passat as its number one pick for the 10 Best Family Cars of 2012!
Vehicles were selected on a number of criteria, including safety, comfort, and child-friendliness. The new Passat has already won an award for its outstanding safety and the Passat offers class-leading rear-seat legroom and automatic dual-zone climate control.
Another important criterion for the award is the Total Cost of Ownership. This looks at a variety of factors like expected fuel costs and with a TDI Clean Diesel option that gets an estimated 43 MPG and can go up to 795 miles before refueling, the Passat got high regard in this category. Additionally, the 2012 Passat models start at only $19,995- a lower starting price than previous models.
A factor that certainly didn’t hurt the 2012 Passat in the rankings is that it’s built at the LEED Platinum manufacturing facility in Chattanooga, Tennessee. One of the world’s most advanced and energy-efficient assembly plants.
Volkswagen always loves getting awards for their vehicles- particularly when the acknowledgement comes from a source as highly revered as Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com.
